Scarves - A Knitter's Dozen

Scarves - those long, skinny rectangles we love to fling, wrap, knot or not - are the perfect impulse knits. One piece, the simplest shape (cast on, knit until it's a scarf, bind off), and relatively small - scarves are quick no-brainers.

Though scarves remain the playground of knitting, the new game is an interesting stitch. The novelty is more often an unfamiliar techniques than a fancy yarn. Find a stitch you like and try it in lots of different yarns, switching from the finest mohair to the slinkiest ribbon.
