Knit Socks!

Have you ever seen such an array of yarns that has literally mushroomed onto the knitting scene in the last few years? Every fiber imaginable, from precious fibers with special care instructions to workhorses that you can throw into the washer and dryer.

Our minds swirl around with all the possibilities. Think of a yarn store owner looking at her wall of sock yarns (that’s me by the way!) and wanting to knit socks out of this one, and this one, no, this one first. And lots of times we branch out, using these same yarns to make gorgeous shawls and sweaters. There is absolutely no limit put on the uses for the yarns designated as sock yarns.

I first learned to knit socks on double points, then moved to magic loop and now it’s two socks at one time. There’s no other way for pure enjoyment. And a small project to tuck in your pocket or purse to take along when you have a moment or two. If your hands are like mine, they get twitchy if there’s no knitting going on. Dan knows that when I set it aside in the evening, I’ll be nodding off in five minutes flat.  socks.jpg

We have a lot of new yarns that have arrived and others on the way.  Some of the ones below are tried and true with some new colors added and others brand new to me. I want to try them ALL!

Our sock knitting journey began in earnest about nine years ago with our SoXperience weekend of workshops.. This year we are looking at two different heel constructions – Sweet Tomato Heel and Fish Lips Kiss Heel. If nothing else the names are intriguing.  It is the weekend of April 17th. Find out more information on our SoXperience page here on our website or give us a call.
