Saturday. April 12th

9am-3pm Explore various ways that color can be added when contrast stitches climb vertically from round to round. These techniques do not inhibit the elasticity of the fabric. Always working in the round, we’ll play with simple zigs and zags, intersecting lines for diagonal plaid, lines between lace, and purl-only columns that look like caterpillars. (Click on the photo to left to view large photo of sample techniques.) For the last bit we'll look at strategies to including the technique in sock knitting and look at examples. Toe- up, top down, we'll look at samples and play with graph paper and stitch dictionaries. (Please note that we will be making a leg to a sock to practice the techniques that Lorilee is demonstrating, not a whole sock.)

3:00 – Free time to explore Island, Carodan Farm Wool Shop open for attendees only (3-4)

6:00 Dinner together at local restaurant
Free knit in conference room  after dinner.

Sunday, April 13th

9:00-12:00 We'll look at strategies to use these techniques in sock knitting and look at examples. Whether you prefer toe- up or top down, we'll look at samples you can work. Those interested will get help designing their own socks. Others can work from a pattern provided to all.

Retreat ends at noon
