Stephen West Shawl

Posted by Caroline Hershey

Just finished this shawl called Metalouse by Stephen West. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry. I used Poems Sock yarn and Mariquita (soon to be on the website) as the solid. It is really a knock-out shawl and can’t wait to show it off. Mine did not turn out as large as stated in the pattern and I’m just as glad. It is more like 72″ across than the 90″ he says. 90″ sounds like a bedspread! The pattern is very easy and the slip stitches are what makes the columns of color in the one section.

We had a fun trip to two of the Barrier Islands south of us – Hog Island and Cobb Islanpelicand. We were fortunate to have RickĀ  Kellam of Broadwater Ecotours as our captain/guide. His family lived on Hog Island for many years so the history of the islands was outstanding. The birds, the islands and the day were absolutely gorgeous.

The yarn I ordered over the net has arrived safely today. I am delighted with the colours & can hardly wait to get knitting. Last year when I was in Germany I purchased some of the Regia brand & was wondering how I would get some more until I found your website.Thank you again for your efficient service.
