Working on the fingerless mittens in Rowan Felted Tweed.
Several selected this yarn for their class projects. I’ve worked the first mitten almost to the bind off point. Love the yarn but disappointed with the color I guess. I picked a light shade thinking the celtic knot on the back of the hand would show up well but it doesn’t really. Maybe after I block it. Will post a photo in the next blog so you can tell me what you think.
Have you gotten all your shopping done? My lists are still growing. I never was one to get it done over the summer and early fall. It turns into a shop until I drop day or two, many orders on line, and then Christmas is here. Between knitting samples for the shop and the various retreats we have, there hasn’t been anytime this fall to knit gifts. Of course there are several baby blankets in the works and Christmas stockings that have a definite deadline.
I’m looking forward to some down time to concentrate on these and get a few more projects completed. What are you working on? Are your gifts all finished and ready to send on their way?

Finished the cowl that I started before Thanksgiving with the Rowan Lima and the Fern lace cowl pattern. The photo doesn’t do it justice. The Lima is incredibly soft and warm as you would expect an alpaca yarn to be.

Baby granddaughter, Elise Ruth Hershey, was born at 2am on Dec. 2nd. Mother, baby, dad and big sister, Jaina, are doing fine.

Yes, that’s red hair poking out from under the little cap. Grandpa says, of course, that’s mine.

Thanks to everyone for making our Black Friday Sale a really good one.
We are shipping those orders this week and will be getting the
Sand Dollar sale going again next week. There are only so many hours
in a day sadly, not that that’s a recent discovery, but sometimes
it’s a little more apparent. So…hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving
and are looking forward to a lovely December with all its festivities.
Working on a pair of fingerless mitts using the Cabin Fever pattern with the
cable on the back of the hand (Shirl’s Mittlets) and knitting in the round with
magic loop and Rowan Felted Tweed. Lots of other projects going also…namely baby blankets, one for baby Madeline born in October and one for upcoming
(read that as when is this baby gonna be born???) grandbaby soon to put in
an appearance. Also on the needles is a cowl out of Rowan Lima. Don’t get me started on projects. A little embarrassing.
We’re getting the dates and topics for our 2012 Retreats lined up so watch for them to be posted.
Have a great day! It’s sunny here on the Island!
