Diamond Baby Blanket

Reversible Moss Stitch Blanket

Finished grandbaby Joshua’s baby blanket and presented it to him this past weekend. He was a little unsure to definitely “get this away from me.” Grandma would be absolutely crushed if I hadn’t had to mend baby Caroline’s blanket because it is carried

every place she goes and I’m hoping that cashmere is truly a hearty fiber and lasts and lasts and lasts. You can find the pattern for this Moss Stitch Diamonds Baby Blanket on the internet as a free pattern. It is easy and the completed blanket is lovely if I do say so myself (not asking Joshua until he’s a little older.) :)

Knitting Now?

What are you knitting?

I love knitting vests/sweaters from side to side especially with the self striping yarns. The results are certainly figure flattering. Early this year I came up with this pattern for a vest using the Rowan Colourscapes yarn. Knitting in garter stitch from side to side is easy and with knock-out results with his color combos (this is color #434) designed by Kaffee Fassett. I used the crochet cast on recommended by Sally Melville in her Knit Stitch book which gives an edge that most resembles the bind off edge.

The Blizzard Cometh

Posted by Caroline Hershey

jasmineThe snow has started falling and it remains to be seen if the predicted blizzard develops as they promised. We are set to outlast it with our knitting projects lined up. I’m working on an Easter basket from one of the Fiber Trends patterns, alternating that with the shrug and vest. Gotta keep a lot of them in the works. And to lift our spirits considerably, the winter jasmine we brought in last week has opened up along with the pussy willow and red bud. The red bud looked absolutely dead and took a day or two to start swelling but now we see color. But the jasmine has been gorgeous. So, perk up, spring is coming!

Big Needles, Little Needles

Giving your hands a break

Thank heavens for being able to switch back and forth between large and small needle knitting. I am knitting a little shrug out of Rowan’s Lenpur Linen on a size 4 needle, lenpur-linencasting on in excess of 100 stitches for the back. WHEW! colourscapes1And of course the edging was on a size 2 in seed stitch. Loved finishing that edging. Sweet to change to the Rowan Colourscapes yarn on these lovely size 8 needles and only cast on 49 stitches for working a side to side vest. The color changes are terrific by the way.
