Cotton Harvest

Posted by Caroline Hershey

We raised just a few plants of white and brown cotton this summer and I caught them just in time as the cotton bolls were bursting open.

We were traveling up the Eastern Shore last November and came across fields of cotton which we never realized was grown here on the Eastern Shore. Looks like a field of snow.

Returning from Charlotte NC last December, we came across the baling rigs. All very interesting when you always dealt with animal fibers.

Herringbone Lace Shawl

design by Kate Atherley.

DSCN3198Denise knitted this lovely shawl out of one of the new colors of Silk Garden Sock yarn. It is definitely an eye catcher.

Kate will be here giving the workshops in April for our SoXperience knitting retreat. Make sure you don’t miss her!

Baby Blanket of Many Colors

Posted by Caroline Hershey

DSCN3190Shirley knitted this baby blanket from six colors of Noro Silk Garden Lite dividing each ball in half so that she could knit another whole blanket.

Very pleased with the results until she discovered a mistake. At first she left it but then in a day or two proceeded to take out a good half of the blanket. She couldn’t look at it without her eyes going immediately to the mistake. I think many of us have had that happen to us.
