Lovely Shawls

Posted by Caroline Hershey

Two ladies brought their just completed shawls into the shop, both made with our Chincoteague Colors yarn and both from the same colorway, Queens Sound.

Liz models her shawl knitted from the Echoes of Chincoteague pattern by Jackie Jones.

Cynthia’s mom models the shawl made for her. Pattern is Winter is Coming found on Ravelry.

Tempest Shawl

Current project

I was entralled with this pattern for a shawl and couldn’t wait to finish a project so I could start this one. (Yes, I try to finish one before beginning another, but it doesn’t always work.)

The border of the shawl is composed of crescent shapes. Knit these first, then pick up and knit the body using short rows.  The first crescent required me to knit and tink back several times until I understood the pattern and now it’s my go to pattern for quiet knitting. I still have to pay close attention to the pattern and put a lifeline in every repeat. Have a ways to go to get to 23 repeats. But fun!

I am using the Zen Garden Serenity Silk Single. Super soft. Had to get used to working with single ply though. Back to those rows I had to take out until my eyes got adjusted and I stopped splitting the yarn.

New Mitts, Easy Pattern

Posted by Caroline Hershey

These fingerless mitts are super easy and with the Classic Shades Sequins Lite  yarn, look extra special. And to mimic an ad on TV, you get not one, not two, but three sets of mitts from one ball of yarn. Can’t beat that! The pattern is a free pattern on the internet at:

This is color #402.

you are my saviours. this is the second time you have saved my crazy knitter's inspiration so you are elevated to yarn goddess!!
