Carodan Farm Happenings

Thanks to everyone for making our Black Friday Sale a really good one.
We are shipping those orders this week and will be getting the
Sand Dollar sale going again next week. There are only so many hours
in a day sadly, not that that’s a recent discovery, but sometimes
it’s a little more apparent. So…hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving
and are looking forward to a lovely December with all its festivities.

Working on a pair of fingerless mitts using the Cabin Fever pattern with the
cable on the back of the hand (Shirl’s Mittlets) and knitting in the round with
magic loop and Rowan Felted Tweed. Lots of other projects going also…namely baby blankets, one for baby Madeline born in October and one for upcoming
(read that as when is this baby gonna be born???) grandbaby soon to put in
an appearance. Also on the needles is a cowl out of Rowan Lima. Don’t get me started on projects. A little embarrassing.

We’re getting the dates and topics for our 2012 Retreats lined up so watch for them to be posted.

Have a great day! It’s sunny here on the Island!

Summer Shawlette completed

Posted by Caroline Hershey

Almost missed summer!

Here’s the completed shawl that I knitted in the Mirasol Sawyer yarn. It’s an cotton/alpaca/silk blend yarn that is very nice to work with and wear.

Once I understood how the designer writes patterns, I made progress. Until that point, I did a lot of ripping. Love the way the shawl rests on the shoulders without continually slipping off. Wish I had used a different color though. This is a free pattern on Ravelry.

Knit One Below

Elise Duvekot’s designs

I gave a class in the knit one below stitch and knitted several different garments to show its appearance. The vest turned out particularly striking:

I used the Paintbox yarn in two colorways. The vest is knitted in one piece with only shoulder seams. She shows it in her book as reversible, which it is, but I like this side the best.

The hat was a challenge but once I figured out the right way to do her increase stitches I was good to go. I used Noro Kureyon and a solid Cascade 220 and then the hat was felted. She has many different versions in her Knit One Below book.

Here is the lovely scarf we  began in class. Once the stitch/row sequence is mastered, you can complete yourself. This one is knitted in Mochi Plus yarn. I have another class coming up on Friday, Nov. 18th. If you are interested, we still have room for several more.
